Our Products Explained

Every single one of our soap products, both bar soap and liquids (hand wash, body wash and bubble bath) are considered naturally-based.

RSPO Palm Oil

We are so proud to use RSPO sustainable palm in some recipes though as we passionately believe in the need to NOT boycott palm oil.

It’s such a complex issue and not one that can be replied to in a single sentence or social media post… the big issue is deforestation and lack of local alternatives. Not palm. If there was no palm, there would STILL be deforestation. And on a far larger scale sadly as palm is a faster yield that needs less space. The locals can’t just pack up and put down their tools – they need an income. We absolutely welcome the debate and soap has become a vehicle in which we are able to educate about the need for sustainable palm and that a blanket boycott of all palm would be even more devastating.

We have a policy to leave all the threads up on Insta and Facebook because we want people to be able to hear from all sides in this matter and make their own informed choice… we hope in each thread that you see there will be information to help inform you to be able to make your own choice. We work closely with many conservation trusts and charities who all back the need for sustainable palm…

Natural Ingredients

The National Ingredient Resource Centre (NIRC) considers a product “all-natural,” if it contains at least 95% of ingredients that fits their criteria for natural ingredients. The other 5% may come from ingredients that do not meet their criteria for natural, but do not contain synthetic fragrances, artificial colours, or harmful fillers.

Little Soap Company, where possible, uses naturally derived ingredients. Sometimes it is necessary to use a non-toxic synthetic ingredient(s) when no equivalent can be found in nature.

While the idea of using 100% all-natural products may seem appealing, it is not practical and does not necessarily mean they are safe. In fact, failure to include effective preservatives in a product can lead to health problems, such as skin infection.

It is necessary to use some type of synthetic non-toxic preservative(s) to ensure the products you use are safe.

Essential Oils

Here at Little Soap where we are able, we only use pure essential oils in our products.

An essential oil is a compound that has been extracted from plants, and one that has captured that plant’s essence- the flavour or scent. We get essential oils through a process of distillation or through cold pressing. Once extracted, they’re combined with a carrier oil and are then ready to use.

Allergens are substances which may cause allergic reactions in some people. Many natural plant materials including essential oils and extracts commonly contain allergens in minute trace amounts. Legally we are required to declare in the ingredients all allergens contained naturally in the plant essential oils along with their chemical name.

Each product on our website includes a complete list of ingredients.

The ingredients listing can be a little overwhelming to some, so we’ve compiled a glossary of some of the more commonly used ingredients we use in our products.
